Enterprise Monitoring Solutions Architect  

 

One of our technology service companies is seeking an experienced technical architect with 5+ years of experience with evaluation, design, deployment and integration of applications which provide monitoring, event management, reporting and asset management for the companys' infrastructure.  Providing solutions and frameworks in helping development teams by providing effective tools, documentation and operational support.

Responsibilities:

  • Architect and lead the deployment and integration of monitoring, reporting and asset management applications.

  • Create, document, train and maintain scripts used for monitoring and reporting applications.

  • Partner with development team on integrations with dependent systems.

  • Evaluate monitoring, reporting services and products available in the marketplace.

  • Engage stakeholders and service delivery staff; gather requirements and feedback on toolset performance and features.

  • Proactively identify improvements, changes and new features that lead to higher customer satisfaction, improved team efficiencies and reduced operating costs.

  • Develop roadmap that blends the company strategy with tools and platform choices available through enterprise suppliers as well as open source, design documentation; deliver presentations to executives that illustrate envisioned improvements for monitoring, reporting and asset management applications.

  • Work closely with a team of operations engineers who support the architecture and understand the demands of the operational environment.

  • Maintain a current understanding of the company's products, SLAs and business processes; apply this knowledge in architecture design

    Requirements

     

    • Bachelor’s of Science is preferred or equivalent experience with a minimum of H.S. Diploma.

    • 5+ years experience engineering monitoring, reporting and asset management systems for large IT infrastructures sets).

    • 2+ years experience in an operational role, supporting monitoring systems.

    • 5+ years with effective operational scripting and improvement.

    • Subject matter expertise with Open Source and Enterprise-class tools such as MicroFocus Operations Bridge and NNMI..

    • Fluency in Shell and/or Perl scripting.

    • Experience with current programming languages and capabilities include Python, Groovy, etc.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of the fundamentals of networking, databases and applications and their interdependencies in the context of monitoring.

    • Experience with asset or configuration management databases.

    • Experience with Unix or Linux operating systems.

    • Understanding of IT operational processes (e.g. – ITIL concepts).

    • World-class customer service skills.

    • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of customer, internal staff and management.

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

    • Ability to bridge gap between development and operations.

    • Enthusiasm for sharing subject matter expertise with the team.

      • Experience with UNIX and Windows.

    • • Experience with ITIL and ISO 2001.

      • Preferred certifications: TOGAF, CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, JNCIS, or CISSP.

      • Experience with Perl, Python, Windows Batch, VBScript, or vSphere PowerCli.

      • Experience with DNS and BIND support.

      • Experience with IPSEC VPNs and NAT.
