Job Description

LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR Principal Responsibilities & Accountabilities • Maintain and support a Linux-based development environment for 30+ developers • Assist developers in managing workstations, servers, and storage on Linux platforms • Troubleshoot & resolve any software or hardware issues affecting the proper operation / performance of the Linux servers and workstations in our development environment • Support and perform application, package and module installations on Linux systems • Prepare effective configuration, installation and operational documentation • Support Development and QA testing initiatives • Contribute to identification and evaluation of preferred services from vendors • Maintain and update the product software, 3rd party components, and configuration as new versions become available and as new features are integrated • Administer backups and services around software development and release management Professional/Technical Skills Proficiency in configuration and support of: o Red Hat Linux (v5 and v6) including the workstation version o Linux Desktop (Gnome, X Windows, KDE, etc.) o Virtualization technology (VMWare, VirtualBox, RHEV, etc.) o Linux-based Web and Middleware technologies (Apache, Tomcat, etc) o Experience with RHN Satellite / Spacewalk Linux Systems management (yum) o Source code control and repositories (SVN, Perforce, git, etc.) o Infrastructure Services (DNS, LDAP, SMTP, SNMP, NTP, etc.) o Scripting in Shell, Perl, Expect, etc. o Remote Console Tools (iLO/UEFI/DRAC/SOL, IPMI, NX, SSH, SMBridge, VNC) Qualifications & Experience • 8-10 years of experience in systems administration and/or technology support • 5+ years of experience supporting Red Hat Linux systems • Experience in the Financial Services sector is preferred SEND YOUR RESUME IN CONFIDENCE TO CLIFF@SSUSA.COM
